After rehearsal Baron Exu was walking back through the darkness toward the car, which was parked at the back of the house. The motion sensor lights did not come on, so Baron Exu, remembering walking into a jutting 2x4 half-wall at the corner one time, stepped back to avoid hitting it again, and fell backwards down the cement stairs leading to the basement. At the time Exu had his 1 year old guitar strapped on his back in a soft shell case, the guitar took the force of the fall, cushioning Exu against the concrete, thus preventing a cracked skull, broken neck or back, and possible death. Although Exu escaped luckily with injuries only to his shins, hands and cheekbone, the guitar named 'Angel' sadly is dead. Angel suffered multiple fractures, including a shattered neck, the head almost completely severed, cracked ribs, and a crushed abdominable cavity. Angel will be sadly missed and will always be remembered for the selfless sacrifice that resulted in Baron Exu's escape with relatively minor injuries from what most certainly would have had an even more tragic ending. The last song that Angel had helped write was the aptly titled 'Mourning Ritual'. The only studio song Angel got to play on was 'Xmas With Krampus'. Angel was a beautiful Jay Turser jazz-box, model uncertain (there were no pix anywhere on the web) . She will be missed. Especially now that Exu has no guitar.:( Unfortunately the before pix I had taken aren't the best quality. :( Angel Before
