   Cemetery Man
by Exu Nazares

I've seen alot of strange things in my life.
I know better than to turn my back on the dead.
If you do they'll come back to life,
that kind of thing can mess with your head.
Don't try to tell me , it's not happening
take a look anywhere in town.
Look in their eyes there's no sign of life but,
somehow they still get around.

I'm waiting for the world...
I'm waiting for the word to wake up again.
I'm a cemetery man.

I see them digging their own graves
but they don't know it at the time it's the end days.
It's kind of obvious, awaken,
still many can't seem to read the signs.
Don't try to tell me we need evil,
I won't stop until I banish it all.
Be aware it's far from necessary
and I'm going to be there to watch it fall.

I'm waiting for the world...
I'm waiting for the word to wake up again.
I'm a cemetery man.

In this snowglobe that I call home,
Ilet my mind roam to keep myself sane.
It gets hard sometimes in solitary,
but I've got a friend in the wind and the rain.
I don't know when it all started
I only know I've got a job to do.
I can't see and end in sight so
I guess I'm going to have to push on through.

I'm waiting for the world...
I'm waiting for the word...
I'm waiting for the world...
I'm waiting for the word to wake up again.
I'm a cemetery man.
I'm a cemetery man.
I'm a cemetery man.

I'm a cemetery man...
Phone Call
by Exu Nazares

Got a phone call this morning, said my daddy passed away.
You ain't got no right to judge the way you do on him.
I don't want to be hearing all the things you say.
Mamma there ain't no use in crying, it don't wash the pain away.
Load up the shotgun I'm going into town right now.
I heard the rumours flying and now I'm going to make them pay.
Lord it's raining hard this mourning, harder than I've seen it rain.
The river's rising high and washing out the road again.
We'll build another one, then we'll be on our way. We've got to
leave this place.
I know it's hard to see too clearly, when the life you've known is gone.
You've got to stand up tall and let the weak ones climb or fall.
There comes a time when everybody must pass on.

The Bottle
by Exu Nazares

You don't come around, and I can't say that I blame you.
What's done is done and now, how can we be strangers?
Sitting on my porch, I watch your daddy's truck go rolling on by.
Mom says "I know it hurts bad son, but remember you're not the only one
who's lost his heart on the first try.

The night is lonely but the bottle holds me until, morning comes around.
The room is spinning , I'm no closer to winning than I was a year ago from now.

We don't talk that much, you know I can't think of anything to say.
I pour myself another drink, maybe this will help me think
of things to say when you're around.
I can't understand why things have to work out like they do.
Days go by and things get stranger, I don't know what I'm afraid of but,
maybe it's not knowing that hurts most.

The night is lonely but the bottle holds me until, morning comes around.
The room is spinning , I'm no closer to winning than I was a year ago from now.
The night is lonely but the bottle holds me until, morning comes around.
The room is spinning , I'm no closer to winning than I was a year ago from now.

You don't come around, and I can't say that I blame you.
What's done is done and now, how can we be strangers?
You are fading fast, you know your face is a blur before my eyes.
I've tried for years to stop the tears, to think of something else but hey,
all this really comes as no surprise.

The night is lonely but the bottle holds me until, morning comes around.
The room is spinning , I'm no closer to winning than I was a year ago from now.
The night is lonely but the bottle holds me until, morning comes around.
The room is spinning , I'm no closer to winning than I was a year ago from now.
A year ago from now.
A year ago from now.
A year ago from now.
A year ago from now.

Spent All My Money
 by Exu Nazares

Spent all my money on a ticket,
I got stopped by a cop at the wicket, he said,
"Son you look like the kind that carries a gun."
"Officer I ain't the only one."
Working by the highway by the riverside.
Working all day to keep my mind
from wandering back in time,
to another age when you were mine.
She waits down by the railway tracks,
and says "I'll stay 'till you get back .
If you don't come, then I will know,
something's gone wrong and you couldn't show."
She says she's found herself another man,
the kind of man who understands when things go wrong,
like they sometimes do.
"What the hell's gone wrong with you?"
When my blues have turned to black,
when everything has turned it's back
and left me here in this godless world,
will I still think about that girl?
Spent all my money on a ticket,
I got stopped by a cop at the wicket, he said,
"Son you look like the kind that carries a gun."
"Officer I never needed one."

Bury Me Deep
by Exu Nazares

Take this burden, take it away from me.
Take this cross before they crucify me.
It takes a gun to set a man free.
When I die better bury me deep.
Down in the pines where the willows weep.
Lock all your doors and pray that you don't sleep.
Angels are crying because you left me cold.
Angels are crying cause
I've got nothing to hold.
You left an empty grave dug in my soul.
When I die better bury me deep.
Down in the pines where the willows weep.
Lock all your doors and pray that you don't sleep.
I'm going southbound cause it's too cold,
my train is southbound cause it's too cold,
you left an empty grave dug in my soul.
When I die better bury me deep.
Down in the pines where the willows weep.
Lock all your doors and pray that you don't sleep.

Say Goodbye
by Exu Nazares

Say Goodbye to the one that you love, he's moving on.
Got a place in the heavan's above, or down below.
I'm just too tired to carry the weight, on my back.
I've given up, but I haven't lost faith.
So I'm moving on.
To know what I know, you must go where I go.
Read your letter now you read mine, when I'm gone.
Taking a train to the end of the line, to touch the sun.
Burn my body on a mounainside, build my pyre.
After I'm gone don't bother to cry, 'cause that's a waste of time.
To know what I know, you must go where I go.
Got no time I'm fading fast, got no time I'm dying fast.
Listen close I must confess.
My life's been a mess.

Living In The Past
by Exu Nazares

Hey I haven't seen you for some time, whatcha been doing with your life?
Have you finally become another man's wife?
I know it's been alot of years,
I drowned your memory with my tears ,
but all that's behind me now, I can make it through the nights.

I find time is moving way too fast.
It's hard to see what's up ahead when you're living in the past.

Once I tried to call you on the phone
when I was all alone one night ,
I thought that maybe I would see if everything was alright.
The line was busy my head was ringing, I hung it up and never called again.
I guess I didn't want to know if there was someone in your life.

I find time is moving way too fast.
We could have had alot more time together, but some things ain't meant to last.

God ya know it's been a while since I last seen you smile.
While you were gone I had to go through hell, but I had to carry on.
I drank myself into the grave almost except I was almost saved.
I wish that it would go one way, or the other for a change.

I find time is moving way too fast.
I only feel at home when I'm living in the past.
I feel right at home.
I feel right at home.
I feel right at home.
I feel right at home.

Hoodoo Woman Blues
by Exu Nazares

Woke up this morning and my blues were gone.
Woke up this morning and my blues were gone.
Noone ever told me it would take so long.

She keeps my heart in a jar on the kitchen shelf.
She keeps my heart in a jar on the kitchen shelf.
She keeps keeps it there and she locks it away for herself.

Any man can see that she's bad to the bone.
We got a house, but it don't feel like home,
knowing she would let me die all alone.

She's got a way to keep men like me in line.
Make a doll of wax and stick it with pins all night.
She thinks that will make everything all right.

I got a surprise for her when she comes home.
Igot a little bit of Gris-Gris of my own.
She won't know what hit her when she goes on home.

House By The Cemetery
by Exu Nazares

There's no place like home.
Surrounded by stones,
arranging my bones in the house by the cemetary.
Neverending rain washing at my pain,
alone and insane in the house by the cemetary.
Sleeping through the sunny days, can't get out of bed.
When night falls I'm wide awake, voices in my head.
I may be afraid of growing older,
I may be afraid of not growing at all.
The weight of the grave is on my shoulders,
had to learn how to run when I was learning to crawl.
They come and they stay. Why they could never say.
It has to be this way in the house by the cemetary.
Affairs of the dark corners of the heart,
they all fell apart in the house by the cemetary.
I may be afraid of doing bad things.
I'm more afraid of doing nothing at all.
Maybe it's the way I never had things.
If it wasn't for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all.
There's no place like home.

Mourning Ritual 2008

Mourning Ritual By Exu Nazares

Waking up is hard to do,
when you feel like you've got nothing to lose,
and everything you knew has slipped away.

Noone seems to understand although
they may try to lend a hand.
They don't hear a single thing you say.

That's a red flag.
It's a warning sign.
It's a dotted line fading from view.

Everyone is on a different path at a different time,
and you may ask yourself
"What is the meaning of it all?".

Try to look at the bigger picture,
don't get lost in broken scriptures.
We all end up the same way after all.

That's a red flag.
It's a warning sign.
It's a dotted line fading .

Dying's always hardest on the ones you leave behind.
Take comfort in the knowing it will lesson over time.
As long as you know that it's never easy letting go.
It's all part of the mourning ritual.

All they leave you with are the memories,
but that's enough for me 'cause I know I can get on by.
Nobody stays around forever,
memories keep us together after we die.

That's a last call.
It's the final curtain fall.
It's a door with no walls waiting.

Dying's always hardest on the ones you leave behind.
Take comfort in the knowing it will lesson over time.
As long as you know that it's never easy letting go.
It's all part of the mourning ritual.

Bye Bye Bo Diddley by Exu Nazares

Bye bye Bo Diddley
So long ole James Brown
It's been a long road that you have laid
and we've all walked down.

Goodbye Robert Johnson
See you at the crossroads.
I paid my dues, but these blues
are a heavy load.

Bye Blind Lemon Jefferson,
so long Mississippi
Fred McDowell, your slide
cried and howled

Bye bye John Lee Hooker
So long Jeffrey Lee
It's been a hard road that you laid down
for one like me.

It's a long hard road I know,
but there's nowhere else to go.

pineboxblues

Pine Box Blues by Exu Nazares

Tell me tell me, can you hear that bell?
Can you hear it ringing, way up on the hill?
You know what that means, put your black suit on.

Tell me tell me
tell me where you've been.
Tell me places travelled, people that you've seen.
I've got time to listen but just for a little while.
'
Cause another pine box is going into the ground,
and I'm wondering what's going on in this town now.

Tell me tell me
can you hear that bell?
Hear the angels singing "Only time will tell"
You know what that means, put your black suit on.

Cause another pine box is going into the ground,
and I'm wondering what's going on in this town now.

otherside

The Other Side By Exu Nazares

Don't cry, because it's alright.
You can spread your wings,
and fly away tonight.
We're already waiting for you
on the other side.

It's not the snow that keeps you cold when you're on your own,
or the wild wind that has blown you, so far away from home.
Just like you the leaves have fallen, we've been calling you everyday.
Everynight we get no answer, you never hear us when we say...

Don't cry, because it's alright.
You can spread your wings,
and fly away tonight.
We're already waiting for you
on the other side.

Pushed from the nest when you were young, your life had just begun.
Stuck in the place where you come from, this city has left you numb.
When I saw you , you were crawling, I called out your name.
You were lost in a dirty alley, alone and full of pain.

Don't cry, because it's alright.
You can spread your wings,
and fly away tonight.
We're already waiting for you
on the other side of life.

Now you catch that breeze, and you ride that wind,
never to return again.
It's a one way flight, off into the night,
see you when you get here my friend.

Don't cry, because it's alright.
You can spread your wings,
and fly away tonight.
We're already waiting for you
on the other side of life.
The other side of life.
The other side of life.
The other side of life.
The other side .
The other side of life.
The other side of life.
The other side of life.
The other side .

Mr Black Pearl - Exu Nazares

That's no way to earn a dollar,
standing on the corner.
She sold her soul everyday,
although I tried to warn her.

"Don't ever turn your back on your soul for a second.
It happened so fast it's the last thing you were expecting."
Now , now ,now,now,now,now,now,now,now,now,now.
Now , now ,now,now,now,now,now,now,now,now,now.

They get lost in the city,
you don't know how easily.
There's no hope or pity,
for people like you and me.

"Don't ever turn your back on your soul for a second.
It happened so fast it's the last thing you were expecting."
Now , now ,now,now,now,now,now,now,now,now,now.
Now , now ,now,now,now,now,now,now,now,now,now.

I see them fading away everyday
getting thinner it's harder to say,
how long it will last,
days go past, will they find their way again.
The city is crumbling
mountains tumbling down.
Better learn to breathe underwater
if you want to live in this town.

"Don't ever turn your back on your soul for a second.
It happened so fast it's the last thing you were expecting."
Now , now ,now,now,now,now,now,now,now,now,now.
Now , now ,now,now,now,now,now,now,now,now,now.

Where Are The Saints? By Exu Nazares

I used to drag these memories up,
now they claw their way up all by themselves.
I used to think, that they kept me warm,
now I find they make me feel more alone.

Where are the saints when I need them now?
Where are the angels when I need to be saved?
There's not a day, that I do not pray,
for the world to get better, before it's too late.

Lose my hold while pulling demons
from under my skin there's so many that I've given in.
Falling fast, and I can't slow down.
When I reach the bottom
I plough straight through the ground.

Where are the saints when I need them now?
Where are the angels when I need to be saved?
There's not a day, that I do not pray,
for the world to get better, before it's too late.

Close the door we've got work to do.
We've got alot to kill before this night is through.
Kill the pain, kill the memories,
kill anyone anything that might get in our way.

Where are the saints when I need them now?
Where are the angels when I need to be saved?
There's not a day, that I do not pray,
for the world to get better, before it's too late.

Petition By Exu Nazares

I tried to tell you.
You didn't want to know.
The more you try to hang on to it,
the faster it's going to go.
Crossroads are open, moon shining bright.
Hear my petition and accept it tonight.

Get your candles together,
bring some rum and cigars.
Leave your doubts and your worries behind you,
they won't get you very far.
Crossroads are open, moon shining bright.
Hear my petition and accept it tonight.

Hey hey hey hey hey
One thing I think you should know.
I would never want to leave you darling,
but it's easier than letting you go.
Crossroads are open, moon shining bright.
Hear my petition and accept it tonight.

Last Call (I'm Not Losing Anything) By Exu Nazares

Last call and I'm wasted, riding on the midnite train.
I had a life but I misplaced it, can't remember my own name.
Outside in the darkness, the mountains fly by, the moon she stares me down.
The eyes of the woods are watching me leaving, and word is I won't be back around.

When I think of all the times, you let me down,
no wonder I feel better now that you're not around.
I'm not losing anything.

Last Fall I was waiting, seems like that's all you made me do.
keep me in the dark anticipating, that you are going to let me in there soon.
Half the time I'm hurting and the other half I'm learning, it's all a part of living here I guess.
You've taken back everything that you ever gave me, except for the debts that you left.

When I think of all the times, you let me down,
no wonder I feel better now that you're not around.
I'm not losing anything.

Last Call and I must face it, coming to the end of the line.
The light at the end of the tunnel's getting brighter, I see this train is right on time.

It's hard sometimes, hen you've come so far,
can't go back or forwards but you can't stay where you are.
When I think of all the times, you let me down,
no wonder I feel better now that you're not around.
I'm not losing anything.
I'm not losing anything.
I'm not losing anything.

endoftheroad
The End Of The Road By Exu Nazares
Broken stories never told.
So many lives bought and sold.
Take a left and keep on driving to the end of the road.
Darkness may come around, from time to time, just to let you know.
There is a common road, everybody goes but nobody knows
When your time has come now.
Broken stories never told.  So many lives bought and sold.
Make a right and keep on driving to the end of the road.

There may be memories, and visions of the future that will lead you on.
Take care with what you do, and who you talk to, before you are gone.
You know what you have to do now.

Broken stories never told.
So many lives bought and sold.
Straight ahead and keep on driving to the end of the road.
Straight ahead and keep on driving to the end of the road.
Straight ahead and keep on driving to the end of the road.

longgone
Long Gone by Exu Nazares

We had a swarm of locusts back in 1889,
it destroyed the farms and a good friend of mine
hung himself out in the trees, his body swung in the breeze
he said he couldn't go on that way anymore.

You can't wait too long.
You look away and then it's gone.
Long gone, long gone.

Came the great fires back in 1911.
Everyone died except the ones who had set 'em.
they thought they got away, tho I made sure they paid,
but it wasn't undone,
and it's not fun anymore.

You can't wait too long.
You look away and then it's gone.
Long gone, long gone.
You can't wait too long.
You look away and then it's gone.
Long gone, long gone.

You can try to make some sense of it
some of the pieces will never fit at all.
You can tell yourself it's not your fault,
still find yourself waiting for the fall.
Whether or not it hapenns at all now.

Solo

Lived through the hurricane of 1955,
it ripped up the town and only a handfull survived.
We travelled for days, looking for the place
that we could call home.
In the end you go it alone.

You can't wait too long.
You look away and then it's gone.
Long gone, long gone.
You can't wait too long.
You look away and then it's gone.
Long gone, long gone.
